I am always impressed when you reply to a comment, but I’ve never really expected you to address each one. I never feel snubbed if I don’t hear from you. As your blog becomes more popular, the comment upkeep may become impossible. Give yourself a break! We just appreciate the space to converse as readers, no pressure.

I certainly appreciate the personal touch you add to your business and blog by communicating with people personally – I think that is really beautiful and I think it says a lot about how thoughtful you are. I don’t think anyone will think less of you for being human though!

brooke showed me a cool way to show on the homepage/sidebar the latest comments left (she used to have this feature before she updated to the whole “email me continuing comments for this post” thing – it’s just the names of the commenter and the beginning of the comment (i think you can show up to eight???) and in that way, people might be able to see if you responded to them. i liked to use that as blogger doesn’t always give you a way to email a person back personally if they haven’t enabled the email feature, and sometimes one is simply left with a profile from blogger. i know this isn’t a blogger blog, so you do have the email access which is nice. i do like that you personally email me when i leave a comment worth responding to i think that if someone asks a question and they are genuinely interested in knowing the answer to, they will check back from time to time until they get a response. i don’t think a response to each and every comment is totally necessary, but that is certainly up to you.

I’m always touched when you reply via email! We’ll cut you some slack though – that is a lot of work!

I use WordPress for Magchunk and installed a plugin for readers to subscribe to comments. That way if I answer a specific question (or someone else does), they’ll get an email. However, a personal email makes readers feel special!

i don’t know if your server has this possibility, but within blogger, commenters get subsequent comments emailed to them so that way there’s no need to go back and check the blog, and no need for you to take the time to send an email. a comment is much quicker.
