I can’t believe it’s been one year since I started MakeunderMyLife. Pretty incredible. I started this blog without any expectation, hoping to one day compile the contents into a book. And today, 365 days later, I’m being interviewed by a local television show about the blog and my message(!!).
I’m pinching myself.
To show my thanks for reading the blog and making my life so much more purposeful, I am doing something brand new on MML: I’m doing a Jess LC giveaway. (I know what you’re thinking- Finally!)
And it’s not just any ol’ giveaway. I’m giving away TWO $100 GIFT CERTIFICATES. Yep. That’s how excited I am about this birthday.
How to Win the Gift Certificates
To win a gift certificate, please submit (in a comment on this post) a intentional message that you would like to wear on a piece of jewelry. If you responded to this question on yesterday’s post, you are welcome to submit it again to enter the giveaway on this post as well. My hope is to continue to get new message ideas to vote on later this month. If you’d like to learn more about the new Jess LC collection these intentional messages will be used for, read on.
I’m also excited to announce that the authors of the six messages which become part of the new line will receive their own necklace with their phrase compliments of Jess LC.
And of course, feel free to spread the word about the giveaway and the intentional message contest!
(Giveaway winners will be picked and announced next Tuesday 1/26.)

Happy Birthday Jess! You are truly an inspiration and you should be proud of yourself for spreading such positive thoughts to your friends out there! You have come up with the greatest idea and I admire you for that!
If I had to wear a message on a necklace, it would simply be: “Hold to the love that you know”
There is no better feeling being loved and loving someone and holding on to that feeling to get you out of anything, physically and mentally.
Be well <3

how fun to read these comments! My message would be “together” – a daily reminder about community and the strength of relationships.

My message would be: Roll with life…
January 21st, 2010 at 2:18 am
congrats. i am lovin your blog.
my intention always in my life is to just ‘live the moments”

So much growth and progress in ONE year! Amazing. I’m sure it’s a result of your optimism, direction and energy. Congratulations.
My intention this year is: Love First
I live in a colder culture and have found that instead of responding with more frustration and crankiness it’s better to smile and say “dobry den” (good day) to the people I pass on the street. Remembering to love first is hard, but already in just under three weeks, I’ve seen the results of this wonderful intention.

Congrats on the birthday! I love reading your blog and am excited for what’s to come.
I have two ideas for messages, one probably being mentioned already: ‘Believe’ and ‘Quiet Your Mind’.

Jess, Happy Birthday, Love your jewelry that I purchased while visiting Chicago from CT. Not only are the pieces unique, they are a reminder of wonderful vacations to the city. My words for 2010 are faith and believe.
January 21st, 2010 at 12:56 pm
my message would be ‘knowHim’
January 21st, 2010 at 1:21 pm
This might be a bit long but my suggestion would be “Faith Moves Mountains”. Thanks Jess!

Happy birthday to MML, and congratulations on your success. Your blog is a source of continual inspiration.
I would love to wear a piece of jewelry that simply says “yes”.
January 21st, 2010 at 1:57 pm
I’d love to have a necklace with the phrase “live in love & simplicity”
Happy blog birthday!!
January 21st, 2010 at 2:48 pm
Happy Blog Birthday. That’s a nice milestone. I would suggest “tiny steps” or “smile”…

I also really love the idea of having the reminder “balance” as a necklace. My mum is always, always telling me to be more balanced in my life!

Congratulations on your anniversary! I’m loving what I’ve read so far – I also like “transform”, “look up”, and “be brave”. Keep up the great work!
January 22nd, 2010 at 12:18 am
congratulations! my message would be “breathe” I always stop and remind myself to throughout the day because often times I realize I’m holding my breath and even if I’m not it usually refocuses me. Being aware of breathing also helps me become more mindful of whatever situation I am in.

You already have a lot of comments, so I know there’s a good chance that my suggestions have already been said, but here’s what I’ve been thinking about:
-classy & fabulous (from that coco chanel quote that every girl seems to love)
-faithful & true (this could mean different things to different people, but it’s a description that is used of Jesus in the book of Revelation (Rev 19:11), and I love it for that reason!)
-believe you me (I remember as a kid trying to figure out when to appropriately use this in a sentence because I thought it sounded cool, lol — but I always smile when I hear people use that phrase for some reason)
-lost & found (as a Christian, this one has significant spiritual implications for me, but I assume it could have deep meaning for many for different reasons)
-bellissimo (Italian for very beautiful or very pretty, I believe) or amore (Italian for love)
-all will be well (attributed to Julian of Norwich)
-living hope (from 1 Peter 1:3)
-live your dream (this one is appropriate for your business!)
I’m excited to see what six you pick!

Congratulations and keep up the great work. You are an inspiration to me.

+ my message would be: “have fun”. it is simple but often forgotten. We sometimes try to accomplish too much and forget about the other aspects of life that are important. I know I do it but I’ve been working on it

Love.Laugh.Learn.Give.

I came across another mini-quote that I think would be PERFECT for this jewelry line: “Keep calm & carry on”

I think I would like a necklace that said “joy in simplicity,” as a reminder that life is not about always acquiring more and doing more. That joy can be found in quietness, and peace in contentment.
I want to live my life by the principle of simplicity, but as we all know, our culture is not particularly encouraging of that. So having a daily reminder to wear would be really awesome.

Hi, It’s always so inspiring to see a person follow their passion. Thank you on behalf of our collective one for doing that.
Some thoguhts…
We’re all love or it’s all love

no pasa nada (no worries phrase from spain)

I would probably choose something along the lines of “Let go” because I am constantly worrying about little things that don’t really matter. Otherwise others I would choose are “Love all” to encourage me to find the good in every person I meet, “God’s gift” to remind myself that I am (as well as every human being) a gift from God and that my life is also a gift from God, “Bliss in everyday life” to remind myself that everyday life is happy and beautiful if I choose to live it that way, “Dream bigger” to not only encourage myself to dream big but to always reevaluate my dreams and make them bigger because I don’t think I should ever settle with myself or my life at the bare minimum. This is a great giveaway!

Thanks for your email and congratulations of the anniversary of the blog! I’ve been reading it for a while now, and I come back to it for its positivity!
I think my intentional message would probably be ‘Sunrise’ because it evokes beginnings and light, which I want to be at the heart of my life – I hope that makes sense!
ANyway congratulations Jess!

Jess, You have been a wonderful inspiration to both of my daughters whom you know well…Mikaela and Becki. Both have spoken with exceptionally high regards to you! You have given them hope that they will fulfill the future that they both want to have, as you have done so much already in your young life! Thank you for that!
With that, my message would be “inspire those whose lives you touch”.
Thank you for bringing joy to Chicago!
