As you can see, lots of shoes are getting pitched in this batch of Throw Out Fifty Things. After an entire winter wearing either rain boots or knee-high brown leather boots, I realized the amount of shoes I have far exceeds the amount that I actually wear. So out they go, with a random assortment of other no longer needed items. This was almost too easy. Any one up for trying the challenge? Let me know how it goes!

Hey Jess! Was checking out your blog and I love the idea of uncluttering your life with things you don’t use. Do you actually throw these away or donate them? I was listening this morning about a local women’s shelter that was asking for gentley used items and I thought it would be a great idea to donate your unused stuff to a shelter or a thrift store etc. Seems like a great use and another way to bring a positive aspect to your life.
Just a thought!

@ Ashlee: Great question! I put the items in three categories: Recycling, donation, and throw away. If you want to know a secret, I haven’t actually donated much of what I have exfoliated yet- with Chicago’s crappy winter weather I am waiting for a good, sunny weekend to start walking the streets to get the stuff to the White Elephant and so forth. So yep, I will be donating what can be used by someone else.
Let me know if you try a similar 50 Things challenge, it is much easier than I thought it would be!

Great post. As for your white flats, they would be great in metallic or a color for summer. You can still get some life out of things that you still like but are showing signs of age or deterioration. I love that you have these things photographed – as a chronicle of past, present and future.
Inspires me to do the same. Is this part of your exfoliation process? I love it.

@ PVE: Do you mean to paint the shoes metallic or a color? I’m not sure if I have the prowess to do a good job, but it is a good idea for some other things that might be worn out.
The challenge is part of the exfoliating process I suppose, more along the makeunder vein. Kind of like getting a facial
. These things needed to be passed on, I just hadn’t done it yet.

@ Laina: Hmm. Well Natalie, my Jess LC girl grabbed the red peep toes, the red shoes have the heel cap thing torn off (so those would have to be repaired) and the brown ones are fine- they are size 8 1/2 – let me know if you want them
.
